Life safety culture promotion in Belarus
The Joint training on implementation of social and behavioral methods to spread life safety culture in disaster risk reduction policy took place in Minsk. The Ministry for Emergency Situations and UNICEF in Belarus organized a two-day training on implementation of social and behavior methods to spread life safety culture in disaster risk reduction policy.
Specialists all over the Belarus under the moderation of Violetta Cojacaru, the expert on social and behavioral change with more than 20 years of experience, were involved to highly intense discussions and group work. Efficient technologies and methods on communication with population in order to save people’s life and prevent disasters were in focus of the experts.
Evgeny Baranovsky, Press Secretary of the MES, stated that communication is a constantly evolving dynamic process and today is important to explore new approaches and methods, look at the problem from a different perspective, and find out applicable solutions.
Vladislav Khilkevich, the UNICEF Senior Information Coordinator, noted that the training would further strengthen the knowledge of participants in safety culture promotion.
During the training, participants discussed the influence of socio-behavioral factors on safety behavior, consider key socio-behavioral methods, data collection and analysis, communication strategy development, crisis communication, social media monitoring and response to infodemics and etc.
In 2023, the Ministry for Emergency Situations and UNICEF signed a Memorandum of Understanding, providing basis for cooperation in the field of prevention of child mortality and injuries from fires.
