Chernobyl accident overcoming
The Chernobyl NPP Disaster Consequences Mitigation Department (Goschernobyl) is a subdivision of the MES, which is entrusted with the following tasks:

implementation of special (executive, regulatory) functions in the field of mitigation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster;
- participation in the implementation of state policy in the field of mitigation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
The main goals in the field of overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are:

further reducing the risk of adverse consequences for the health of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster;
- maintenance of protective measures at the achieved level, implementation of radiation monitoring and control of radioactive contamination of environmental objects and products;
- assistance to the restoration and sustainable socio-economic development of regions with unconditional compliance with radiation safety requirements;
- scientific and informational support.
The Polesskiy State Radiation and Ecological Reserve is a unique platform for large-scale scientific research in the field of radioecology and radiobiology.
