Bilateral Cooperation

The Ministry for Emergency Situations is responsible for implementing the provisions of a large number of bilateral and multilateral, interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental international agreements, treaties, conventions and other legal acts in the field of prevention and response to natural and anthropogenic disasters.

Since its establishment, the MES has been creating and developing partnership cooperation with rescue services and other state and public organizations.

Since 1997, the MES has concluded more than 50 bilateral international agreements on cooperation with more than 30 states in the field of:

  • prevention and assistance in emergency situations,

  • notification of nuclear accidents, information exchange and cooperation in the field of radiation safety,
  • overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP disaster,
  • aviation search and rescue.
