The Minister's Working visit to the Vitebsk region: Vadim Sinyavsky Attended the Meeting of the Executive Committee
Aas part of his working visit to the Vitebsk region, the Minister for Emergency Situations, Vadim Sinyavsky, attended a meeting of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.
He also visited facilities involved in the XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which was held in Polotsk. During the meeting, the City Executive Committee discussed the issue of ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing deaths from external causes, including emergency situations.
The City Executive Committee discussed the issue of "On the ongoing work to ensure safety and prevent deaths caused by external factors, including emergency situations." Vyacheslav Savitsky, the head of the Novopolotsk City Emergency Department, presented a report on the current situation with fires and fatalities from them in the city of Novopolotsk. He outlined the main causes and circumstances leading to deaths in fires. He emphasized that the city's emergency services are working in several areas: individual prevention, inspections, and promoting safety in workplaces and among young people.
The meeting was held as a constructive dialogue between various prevention actors. Vadim Ivanovich emphasized that the country provides a sufficient level of protection for the population and territory against natural and man-made disasters. He emphasized that the success of efforts to prevent crimes, including reducing deaths from external causes, depends directly on the cooperation of all prevention agencies.
– The level of work being done suggests that this situation may change. Firstly, this is due to our culture, upbringing, and common traditions. There are many factors at play here. In my opinion, the decisions taken should allow us to address the issues of ensuring fire safety for our citizens and preventing deaths from external causes, Vadim Sinyavsky noted.
It was emphasized that the systematic efforts of government agencies, other organizations, and citizens to enhance public safety and promote discipline contribute to reducing deaths and injuries. Through these joint efforts, citizens' lives become safer and more comfortable as a result.
The next stop on the visit was Polotsk, the oldest city in Belarus. There, the head of the ministry visited a site where a fire rescue unit had been reconstructed. He monitored the progress of repair and restoration work and discussed existing problematic issues with the builders. On the eve of the XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which would be held in the Vitebsk region later that week, Vadim Sinyavsky also visited the educational building of Polotsk State University, formerly known as the House of Officers, which was involved in the Forum of Regions framework. Issues related to safety and readiness for the Forum participants' meeting were discussed with the university's management.
