Participants of the World Firefighting Championships in China returned to Belarus

Today, the national teams of the Republic of Belarus returned from Harbin, China, where the XIX Men's World Championship and the X Women's World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sports were held from September 5 to 11. The athletes were solemnly welcomed at the Educational Life Safety Center of the Ministry for Emergency Situations by the rescue agency staff headed by Deputy Minister Sergei Salanovich, relatives and friends.


Recall that according to the results of all competitions in the team competition, the men's and women's Belarusian national teams took silver. In total, both teams have 7 medals in the individual and team standings: 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

On the first day of the competition, the Belarusian athletes took the lead in the men's individual climbing competition. They won three medals in the assault category:

 1. Anton Tarasevich (Belarus) - 12.72 seconds

2. Nikita Ukolov (Belarus) - 14.94 seconds

3. Ilya Bondarenko (Belarus) - 15.70 secs

During the preliminary rounds, Belarusian athlete Nikita Ukolov set a new world record in the "Climbing the Assault Ladder to the Floors of the Training Tower" event by climbing to the fourth floor in 12.47 seconds.

The world record for the assault event was updated by Karina Bochkareva from Russia, with a time of 6.70 seconds. A few races later, Elena Balakireva from Belarus repeated this achievement and set a new record for her country. For comparison, the women's world record stands at 6.71 seconds and was set by Ekaterina Chendakova from Russia at the 2019 World Championships in Saratov. On the second day of the competition, Nikita Ukolov from Belarus took first place in the men's individual competition in the overcoming the 100-meter obstacle course with a time of 15.08 seconds.

The Belarusian men's and women's teams both performed well during the World Championships. The men's team achieved silver in the fire relay discipline, while the women's team earned bronze. On the final day, the men's Belarusian team put in a great effort and won a gold medal for the "Combat Deployment from a Motor Pump" event.

They achieved the best time of the day with a time of 26.89 seconds. Athletes from Belarus competed in four different events at the World Championships: "Climbing Assault Ladder to the Floors of the Training Tower", "100 Meter Obstacle Course", "4X100 Fire Relay", and "Combat Deployment from Motor Pump".


 – Fire and rescue sports are a challenging sport. However, thanks to the well-coordinated efforts of the coaches and the perseverance of the athletes, they managed to achieve an impressive result at the World Championships in China. It's gratifying to see that this championship set a new world record for climbing the assault ladder to the fourth floor of the training tower, set by Nikita Ukolov. This record could not be broken for 11 years, indicating that the athletes train hard and consistently throughout the season, – Sergey Salanovich praised the performance of the athletes for their dedication and hard work.


– I am proud of the fact that thanks to our achievements at the World Cup, the anthem of Belarus was played at the stadium every day in honor of my country. Now, let's take a small break, analyze our mistakes, and start the new competitive season with renewed energy, – athlete Anton Tarasevich said, sharing his emotions. 


– The championship was an exciting and interesting event. All four days were full of stress, we were constantly worried, tried our best, and gave our all. I am generally satisfied with my personal performance: I won the 100-meter chase and came home with a gold medal. I hope that I will continue to perform well in the future, – athlete Alexandra Poshvenchuk said, sharing her impressions.

 

10 men's and 7 women's national teams participated in the World Fire and Rescue Sports Championship in Harbin, China. The participating countries included Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The Belarusian teams included emergency workers from all over the country, including masters of sports, international masters of sports and honored masters of sport of Belarus. Throughout the season, these athletes, under the guidance of experienced coaches, prepared for the most important event of the year.
