Humanitarian Cargo delivered to Zimbabwe
A plane carrying humanitarian cargo from Belarus has arrived on the African continent. The Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Igor Bolotov, is leading the humanitarian mission on behalf of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Belarus.
Recall that on April 3rd of this year, President E. Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe declared a national emergency due to the devastating drought caused by El Niño. In order to help those affected by the drought, Belarus has decided to provide assistance in the form of diesel generators, medicine, food, and essential items such as blankets, children's clothes and shoes, and hygiene products, with a total value of 1.2 million Belarusian rubles and weighing approximately 30 tons. The humanitarian cargo also has a volume of over 100 cubic meters.
The Minister of Local Government and Construction of Zimbabwe, Daniel Garve, received assistance from Belarus. Albert R. Cimbindi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, expressed gratitude on the occasion of this assistance.
This is not the first time our country has provided humanitarian aid to Zimbabwe. In 2019, the east coast of Africa was affected by Cyclone Idai, which caused significant damage.
